The MAGMA workshop started its production of custom boards in 1995, from the hands of Achille Lequertier and Helmut Wirtz, although the workshop only opened 5 years ago. It shapers all have many years of experience.

Helmut Wirtz

: Helmut Wirtz

40-year old Helmut built his first board in 1980 and by 1984 he already worked with important international shapers in an official workshop.

In 1988 he opened his own workshop "Keen Edge" and finally in 1995 he changed his residance to Fuerteventura where he started in MAGMA, with Achille.

Achille Lequertier

35-year old Achille, built his first board together with his brother Raoul in his garage. Achille and Raoul built the first custom boards in shoutern France (1982). Achille worked in several French workshops, both competing in the French circuit and in the PBA, for a total of 16 years, whit his brother Raoul dedicated himself to surftrips. All this has turned them into 100% specialists in wave boards.

Abel Cathelineau

Fuerteventura ist seit zehn Jahren die Wahlheimat des Franzosen Abel Cathelineau. Zuvor arbeitete er als Schiffsbauer und führte einige Jahre einen eigenen Surfshop in Frankreich. Auf der Suche nach wärmeren Gewässern landete er schließlich auf Fuerteventura, wo er tagsüber Fischerboote repariert und abends seiner Leidenschaft nachgeht und individuelle Surfboards und Paddel herstellt. Mittlerweile besitzt er sein eigenes Label „Belway Paddles“ und verwirklicht in Zusammenarbeit mit Magma Custom Boards seine Visionen. Auch sonst ist er im Surfsport aktiv: Kiten und Windsurfen zählen zu seinen grossen Leidenschaften.

Eric Terrien

Eric Terrien's custom boards and the prototypes that has been used by Nidecker (the swiss brand leader in the snowboard industry) to produce the new 12'6 SUP "All Water Race" are all designed and hand shaped by the team Helmut Writz/Abel Cathelineau in the Magma Custom Boards Factory, Fuerteventura.

Gunnar Biniasch

Gunnar started experimenting with Kiting on the water back in 1999 and quickly got addicted to the sport. He moved to Fuerteventura permanently in 2001 to teach at the Flag Beach Kitesurf Center. There he managed to hone his kiting and teaching skills and has managed to become one of the most experience Kite Instructors in the World. 10 Years later he is still with it and is doing his best to promote the sport and improve the equipment out there.
